Mitt Romney called fellow presidential candidate Newt Gingrich "erratic," with Gingrich responding that Romney is increasingly desperate as they both campaigned Monday in Tampa.
Gingrich campaigned at a Tampa church Monday afternoon, shortly after Romney criticized him for not fully revealing his business dealings after leaving Congress. Gingrich - who's reveling in his new position atop the Florida polls - referred to Romney's recent spate of negative campaigning.
The comments came just hours before a nationally-televised debate from the University of South Florida. In just the past week, the Florida primary has turned from what had looked like a coronation for Romney into what some polls predict will be an uphill battle.

Anyone but Newt, please.
Gingrich is the epitome of what's wrong with Washington. He is heavy with vice, but blessed with some charm and oratorical wit. Four years ago we elected a president who embodied both of those--but Gingrich has a trail of misdeeds, borderline illegal dealings, and a character reputation that sends this Floridian running to the arms of Romney. I'm a registered democrat and Florida native hoping that the American people are not forced to choose between a charismatic failure and a charismatic failure. If I could vote next week, I'd be shouting "anyone but Newt, please."
