Florida Legislature: 2010 Session Preview
According to some estimates, state lawmakers have to find $2.6 billion more for next year’s state budget. Either that, or cut that much in government spending. That means negotiating a state budget will again be front and center for the yearly Legislative Session, along with exploring new ways to generate revenue and efforts to create jobs. We look at the possibilities for the 60-day session on this week’s show.

I read an article http://www.pdfok.com/florida-legislature-rejects-oil-drilling-ban-vote and should say that it appears that it might be more of a matter that the legislators prefer to reserve this decision for themselves to make, rather than the democratic process of allowing the people of Florida deciding this matter by their democratic vote. And that increases their political clout to "negotiate" with the special interests for the best financial interests of the legislators. It's more about "political influence" and money, than "democracy" for the people. It somewhat reminds me of the governor of Illinois trying to wrangle something out of filling Obama's Congressional seat. The legislators simply want to be able to reserve this "political chip" for their own personal advantage. We need to vote almost ALL of the incumbent legislators OUT of OFFICE.
