Florida Matters: Doctors, Patients and Guns

A federal appeals court recently ruled that a Florida law that restricts what doctors can tell patients about gun ownership is constitutional.
This latest ruling by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturns a previous decision that had blocked the state from enforcing the law. Physicians groups are planning to appeal the ruling on the Firearm Owners’ Privacy Act that was passed by the state Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Rick Scott in 2011.
We talk to a doctor and a firearms expert about whether doctors should talk to their patients about gun ownership.
