On Tuesday, February 9th, the new 11-member touring ensemble from Warner University in Lake Wales, "The Young Americans," will be performing as the featured artists for the monthly meeting of the Tuesday Music Club of Lakeland.
The Sarasota Concert Association is pleased to present Cheryl Losey on harp and Betsy Hudson Traba on flute in a Munchtime Musicales performance, February 17, noon, at David Cohen Hall inside the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center, 709 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The concerts are free and open to the public.
Whether playing the great standards of the piano trio repertoire or daring contemporary works, the three young women who make up the celebrated Eroica Trio electrify the concert stage with their performances of depth and precision. At this Sarasota Concert Association presentation, the ensemble will perform a program that includes works by Beethoven, Joan Tower and Brahms.
Bradenton Musica Sacra, the Florida Gulf Coast's sacred music ensemble presents 'Divinely Copland', a concert celebrating the sacred works of Aaron Copland. Featured will be his 'In the Beginning' and settings of 'Zion's Walls', 'At the River', 'Simple Gifts' and others.
The program is under the direction of Musica Sacra's music director, Robert Parrish.

Balancing Water Uses
When the rare overnight freeze moves into the Bay area, farmers typically turn on the sprinklers and blanket their crops with an insulating layer of ice. In the short term, that doesn’t usually cause significant problems. But after 11 days of freezing temperatures, all the watering depleted the state’s underground aquifer and led to dry wells for hundreds of homeowners and dozens of sinkholes that have damaged homes and closed roads. This week, we’ll talk about how we balance the interests of agriculture and people when it comes to the state’s water resources.
The public is invited to jazz band concerts by middle and high school students. The concerts will be held Thursday, February 11 at the theatre of Polk State College in Winter Haven, 999 Avenue H NE. The concerts are from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. There is no cost to attend. Jazz bands from middle and high schools will perform in 20 to 30-minute intervals.
