University Beat producer Mark Schreiner joined a team of oceanographers from USF's College of Marine Science on a recent trip into the Gulf that focused on the tools they use to monitor local waters to predict what direction oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster might head if it ever reaches the Loop Current. This week's University Beat on WUSF-TV brings you the first in a series that takes you along on the voyage. Also: USF’S Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is getting ready to roll out the summer term of its “Friday Lecture Series.” Topics range from jazz legend Louis Armstrong, to gothic cathedrals, Medicaid, and African-Americans who played a role in Tampa’s development. This week’s University Beat on WUSF 89.7 FM has a preview of the Series and how it fits into Osher’s mission of educating senior citizens who still have a love for learning.
