Marilyn Horne is not only one of the world’s greatest and best-known mezzo-sopranos, she’s also a wonderful raconteur, teacher and finder of tomorrow’s super-stars. Among the most beloved operas in the standard repertoire for over 100 years, “Pagliacci” is also the perfect first opera for newcomers. This fall, Leoncavallo’s tragedy returns to the Sarasota Opera House by popular demand!
You will hear directly from some of Sarasota Opera’s singers about their lives in the opera business. This session will include a mock audition, where you’ll learn about the essential experience from the point of view of the singer, as well as hear the management’s perspective.
Director of Artistic Administration, Greg Trupiano, will introduce you to essential elements of producing an opera. You will meet our lighting designer, chorus master, and a member of the music staff to learn more about how their contributions make our productions possible.
