On the Radio
Frances Engel
In December 1960, Frances Engel left Ecuador for Chicago searching for a new life and a fresh start. She brought only her oldest daughter Maria with her, but she immediately started searching for work so she could bring the rest of her children. In a conversation with her daughter Cleopatra and her granddaughter Angelina, Frances recalls what it was like to be an immigrant in the United States. And she shares the family’s struggle to be reunited.
