Ralph Votapek - Concert Pianist
General Event Information
American piano virtuoso Ralph Votapek studied music at the Wisconsin Conservatory, Northwestern University and Juilliard. He was awarded the Naumberg Award in 1959. After winning the first Van Cliburn Int'l Piano Competition in 1962, he signed contracts with RCA and Sol Hurok, and made his debut at Carnegie Hall. For portions of his concert, Votapek will be joined by his wife Albertine, also a prominent concert pianist and his son Paul, principal clarinet of the Naples Philharmonic.
