Redeemer offers new adult ed class on the Hebrews

The Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., in downtown Sarasota, will offer a free five-week evening discussion course on "The Hebrews" beginning Tues., Feb. 19. Classes will run from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday, ending March 19. The course, taught by parishioner Dr. Charles Axton, begins with a review of the history of the Jews under the Persians, Seleucids and the Romans. Subsequent lectures will discuss the Torah, Passover, Haggadah and other Holy Days of Israel; the Hebrew Sabbath; Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jews; Josephus; Philo; and the Hebrew culture today in America.
