SSSO Presents: Images of Fright!
General Event Information
A symphonic array of ghosts, goblins, dancing skeletons, murderous trolls, wild witches and other
nightmarish creations will appear when the South Shore Symphony Orchestra presents “Images of
Fright.” Conducted by Dr. Susan Bailey Robinson, the orchestra will perform Sat. Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m. at
St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 1015 Del Webb Blvd. E., Sun City Center and on Sun. Oct. 28 at
The Regent, 6437 Watson Dr., Riverview. $20 tickets available online at www.thessso.org/
The program includes Charles Gounod’s, Funeral March of a Marionette, which Alfred Hitchcock liked
well enough to borrow for his TV theme music. March to the Scaffold and Witches Sabbath from Hector
Berlioz’ Sinfonie Fantastique mirror an artist’s tortured soul. There’s Paul Dukas’ Sorcerer's Apprentice
which Disney put to exquisite use in Fantasia. Masquerade Suite by Khachaturian pulsates with the
madness of the waltz, a dance once banned in England for being decadent, even demonic. It’s a Danse
Macabre of dancing skeletons from the pen of Saint-Saens. And Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain,
is a witches brew from Hades’ fiery depths.
Concert tickets are also available at the St. John The Divine church office from 10:am to 1:pm, Mon.
thru Fri., and during business hours at the following: The Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce, Sun
City Center Plaza; South Shore Chamber of Commerce, 315 S. Tamiami Trail and at Sweetbay/Mira Bay
