Steinway Celebration Concert: Rachmaninov's 2nd
General Event Information
Saint Boniface Episcopal Church is excited to present a piano and organ concert featuring internationally renowned musicians Jeremy Filsell and Nigel Potts playing Rachmaninov’s 2nd piano concerto, with the organ performing a new reduction of the original orchestration, and additional works by Liszt and Gershwin. The evening celebrates the addition of their Steinway D to Saint Boniface’s music ministry. The concert takes place Friday, April 12 at 7:00pm.
Dr. Filsell, artist-in-residence at the Washington National Cathedral, will be the piano soloist. Many in Sarasota will remember him from earlier concerts at Saint Boniface, including his internationally acclaimed 12-CD recording of all the organ music of composer Marcel Dupré.
Mr. Potts, the organist and choirmaster at Christ and St. Stephen’s Church in New York City, will perform on the church’s 2,965-pipe organ.
