Volunteers Are a Vital Part of Our Operations
Volunteers are key members of the WUSF family. Volunteers help perform vital functions for our Membership Department and other areas of operation. WUSF volunteers are among the most passionate supporters of public broadcasting. They help WUSF to reach out to the community in a special way.
This year WUSF was fortunate to have over 200 volunteers who donated a total of 10,300 hours. Volunteers worked on a variety of projects across the organization. Volunteer readers recorded 7,900 hours for the Radio Reading Service which brings the printed word to the visually impaired. WUSF volunteers also assisted in the music library, answered phones during on-air membership campaigns, and helped with membership mailings, data entry and record keeping.
"Volunteers are a vital part of WUSF Public Broadcasting’s operations,” according to WUSF general manager JoAnn Urofsky.
“When we say we couldn't do without the support of volunteers, we mean it literally. Volunteer hours save the station thousands of dollars each year. Many of the activities that we currently undertake couldn't be successful without volunteers helping us.”
