The 2013 Israel Film Festival Presents "A Bottle in the Gaza Sea"

As part of its 2013 Israel Film Festival, the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee presents A Bottle in the Gaza Sea, an engrossing drama based on the award-winning novel by Valerie Zenatti. Shaken by news of a suicide bombing near her Jerusalem home, a 17 year-old French-Israeli girl writes a letter expressing her refusal to accept that only hatred can reign between Israelis and Palestinians. She puts the letter into a bottle, and asks her brother in the IDF to throw it into the sea near Gaza. A few weeks later, she receives an email response from a mysterious “Gaza-Man and thus begins a turbulent, but tender, on-line friendship. March 18, 7 p.m., at Temple Sinai, 4631 S Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota; and March 19, 3 p.m., at Beatrice Friedman Theater, 582 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. Tickets are $7 per film.
