General Event Information
The Sarasota Concert Association presents violinist Joshua Bell and the Cleveland Orchestra under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst on January 28, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. The Cleveland Orchestra is one of the most sought-after orchestras in the world, lauded for its artistic excellence, creative programming and community engagement. Joshua Bell is a superstar known for his virtuosity and tone, as well as for pushing boundaries and integrating classical violin into mainstream culture. A popular and multifaceted artist, Bell was awarded the Avery Fisher Prize in 2007 and was recently named as music director for The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
The Sarasota Concert Association (SCA) exists to foster the development of an appreciation for the musical arts by sponsoring professional presentations that are not otherwise available in the community, through a not-for-profit, organized-audience plan. SCA aims to set the fees for all performances as reasonably as possible, in order to make the concerts available to as much of the community as possible. The organization is not designed to make a profit but does intend to be self-supporting. It provides outreach to all members of the regional community by offering a series of free concerts, Munchtime Musicales, held from November through April every year.
