Tokyo String Quartet with Jeremy Denk, Piano Soloist

The Sarasota Concert Association opens its 2013 season with the renowned Tokyo String Quartet, accompanied by pianist Jeremy Denk at 8:00 p.m. on January 14. The Tokyo String Quartet will be appearing in Sarasota as part of its final season together as a quartet, ending the group's illustrious 44-year history. Jeremy Denk is considered to be one of the most compelling and persuasive artists on the classical music scene today and is also known for his ongoing collaborations with a number of living composers, as well as for his widely read blog, "Think Denk," in which he writes with both humor and intellect about his touring, practicing and other music-related experiences.

The Sarasota Concert Association (SCA) exists to foster the development of an appreciation for the musical arts by sponsoring professional presentations that are not otherwise available in the community, through a not-for-profit, organized-audience plan. SCA aims to set the fees for all performances as reasonably as possible, in order to make the concerts available to as much of the community as possible. The organization is not designed to make a profit but does intend to be self-supporting. It provides outreach to all members of the regional community by offering a series of free concerts, Munchtime Musicales, held from November through April every year.
