Family fun walk raises awareness of problem of homeless kids

Turning Points, formerly known as the Community Coalition on Homelessness is proud to announce their first annual "Walk a Mile in their Shoes" family fun walk on Saturday, April 20th. The walk raises awareness of the numbers and plight of homeless kids - in Manatee County more than 2000 are identified as homeless each year! The walk is being held at Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach and starts at 4:00. Everyone who registers early will get a T-shirt and there will be music, a DJ, food, a bounce house and games and contests for the whole family. Adult walkers can register for $20.00, kids under sixteen are $10.00 and under five are free. A family registration is available for $45.00. All proceeds will go to fund programs at Turning Points which include a day resource center, employment assistance, rental and utility assistance, and a free medical and dental clinic. Come on out with your family, enjoy a wonderful evening at the beach, and support services for kids and families that are struggling to avoid homelessness!
