Florida Matters “Florida Amendment 1” (First aired January 25, 2008)
Money House
Florida voters will head to the polls this Tuesday to decide the fate of amendment one which would increase the homestead exemption, make the Save Our Homes cap on tax increases portable and offer up more modest caps on non-homestead property. Supporters call it a good first step in offering relief to homestead property owners. Critics say it doesn't do enough or the cuts in schools and local services would not be worth the small amount of actual savings that would result. State lawmakers came up with the Amendment during a special session last year. We examine Florida Amendment 1 this week on Florida Matters. Listen now
