Become a vital part of the WUSF Public Media fundraising team!  As the administrative specialist, you’ll be a vital part of WUSF’s major gifts team, helping individuals and foundations as they support key priorities for WUSF Public Media.  You’ll work on our database, help with events, communicate with donors, coordinate with departments within WUSF and provide pro-active administrative support for the Development Director.

Position Summary:

WUSF Public Media seeks a Development Assistant to provide vital support for WUSF’s Development Department, which is charged with growing leadership support from individuals and foundations for WUSF. S/he will provide administrative support for the Development Director and the major gifts team, provide administrative and logistical support for station events, work closely across departments within WUSF and USF, and interact with our growing community of supporters. A successful candidate will possess an extraordinary attention to detail, be very organized, and have strong interpersonal skills with both staff and donors. Familiarity with relational databases and working knowledge of the Office suite of products is essential. Non-profit experience a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative support for Development Director and major gifts team, including pro-actively anticipating needs, calendar management, and coordinating activities with other departments both within WUSF and with USF.

Database management, including:

  • Weekly review of Transaction Reports from USF Foundation to ensure speedy entry into Allegiance.
  • Run regular monthly reports to ensure data integrity and update records as appropriate.
  • Some gift processing, including pledge and gift entry, occasional batching, check processing.
  • Update donor records and help maintain an accurate database for the Major Gifts team.

Facilitate Development print and digital communications and manage office supplies – stamps, donor gifts, letterhead, brochures, etc.
Provide administrative and logistical support for Development engagement opportunities, include events and ticket giveaways.
Additional duties as assigned by Development Director.
Front Desk duties.

Organizational Summary

WUSF Public Media broadcasts programming and information to its viewing area and online that is relevant and important to the community. WUSF serves the community through four Strategic Business Units: WUSF 89.7; Classical WSMR 89.1 & 103.9; WUSF-TV; and IntellisMedia.  There are 72 employees with an annual budget of $14 Million. 

Minimum qualifications: 
  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of clerical experience, at least one of which must be directly related to development or community relations. College coursework may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
