Alexander Glazunov’s Symphony No. 1

Alexander Glazunov’s Symphony No. 1 was written in 1881, when he was 16 years old, and is known as his Slavonian Symphony.  At its premiere in St. Petersburg, the symphony was a resounding success, and after the performance the audience was shocked to see a teenage boy come to the stage to take his bows in his school uniform.
