Mozart: Oboe Quartet in F, K. 370
Mozart created a real showpiece for the oboe in this work. It was written in Munich, where he had met an oboist who is described as extraordinary. A man named Friedrich Ramm. It was for him that Mozart wrote the Oboe Quartet in F. The work has been called one of Mozart’s best integrated chamber pieces, because although the oboe is the star, the cello, violin and viola also have a big role in the musical conversation. Susan Giles Wantuck will have that for you on Midday Mozart Friday at noon.
