Sunday Baroque Listings: November 13, 2016

Hour 1:
Every time you listen to Sunday Baroque you know you can expect to hear familiar music by composers whose names you might recognize – such as George Frideric Handel and Antonio Vivaldi. You can also hear music by their less well known contemporaries – people like Carlo Razetti and Johann Pisendel. You’ll hear some old and new favorites on Sunday Baroque this weekend.

Hour 2:
All week long you make time to work, and be a chauffeur, and keep the household running. This weekend, you can carve out a little bit of time for yourself. Sunday Baroque will feature a variety of dance music to keep your toes tapping. It’s just one of this highlights you’ll enjoy this week on Sunday Baroque.

Hour 3:
The Italian violinist and composer Arcangelo Corelli was SO well known and well respected that many other musicians composed tributes to him. German, French, Scottish, and Spanish composers, among others, all jumped on the bandwagon to celebrate Corelli’s considerable musical talents, and so will Sunday Baroque this weekend.

Hour 4:
The original Academy of Ancient Music was a private club of musicians and intellectuals in the early 1700s. They met at public houses to socialize and play music that was at least 100 years old at that time. You’ll hear the modern incarnation of the Academy of Ancient Music playing a Sonata from their brand new cd this weekend on Sunday Baroque.
