Then & Now 10/2: Nobel Music

On this date in 2001, Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, commissioned American composer Steve Heitzeg to write his "Nobel Symphony” to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize.  Heitzeg chose to set quotes and writings of a diverse array of Nobel laureates to music for vocal soloists and children's chorus. These Nobel laureates included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Elie Wiesel, Martin Luther King, Jr, and the Dali Lama.

Well it’s that time when this year’s Nobel Prizes are awarded.  Today, it was announced that the Nobel Prize In Medicine goes to 3 Americans for work on circadian rhythm.  Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael W. Young are the joint winners of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, winning for their discoveries about how internal clocks and biological rhythms govern human life.
