Then & Now 10/5: Orchestra Concerts on the Radio

On this date in 1930, The New York Philharmonic began its series of weekly Sunday afternoon national broadcasts with a program from Carnegie Hall conducted by Erich Kleiber.

We’re pleased to bring you broadcast concerts from some of the world’s greatest orchestras here on Classical WSMR.  Each week on SymphonyCast you get to enjoy first rate concerts from all over the globe.  Over the past month or so we’ve been paying regular visits to the BBC Proms in London, including the final gala concert.  This week Hilary Hahn teams up with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for a stellar performance of Beethoven's iconic Violin Concerto.  You’ll also hear a great performance of Schumann’s Fourth Symphony.  SymphonyCast is every Friday night at 8:00 and Sunday night at 10:00 on Classical WSMR 89.1 & 103.9.
