Then & Now 9/25: Parlez-vous Français?
On this date in 1997, French composer and pianist Jean Françaix, died at the age of 85, in Paris. The composer himself said that his family name is pronounced with the final "x" sounded, although it's still commonly pronounced "Français" by many.
There’s a concert with some French music tonight in Sarasota featuring flutist Linda Bento-Rei, and pianist Don Bryn with some Debussy on a program of flute and piano repertoire that portrays the strangeness and mysterious characteristics of dreams. The program is called Dreamscapes and will be held tonight at 7:00 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, in Sarasota.
