"PhilFest" (Philippine Festival), now in its 24th year, is now one of the biggest outdoor Philippine festivals on the East Coast, if not in America. It is held at the 10-acre Philippine Enrichment Complex, a property owned by the Philippine community of Tampa Bay managed by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 none profit cultural foundation whose goal is preserving the Philippine cultures in America for generations to come. The festival this year will be on Friday, April 5th all the way to Sunday, April 8th. The property is located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, Florida 33626 (by Westchase area). Tickets to the festival is $7 per person. Kids 5 and under enter free as well as veterans and servicemen with proper ID and their immediate families also enter free of charge.
Coming to PhilFest is like traveling to the Philippines without the 21 hours flight. As you enter the festival, you will feel like being in the Philippines with non-stop entertainment, live music, Philippine folk dances, bamboo orchestras, singing competitions, dance competitions, street parades and processions, and of course, the best in Philippine cuisines from more than 15 food caterers in Tampa Bay. There are also cultural exhibits at the spectacular Philippine cultural center called "Bayanihan," which means "working together."
Festival hours are: FRIDAY, April 6th - 5 -11 pm; SATURDAY, April 7th - 10 am to 11 pm; SUNDAY, April 8th - 10 am - 6 pm. For more information go to www.pcfitampa.org or call (813) 925-1232.
