Classical WSMR Presents The Florida Orchestra


LingClassical WSMR presents the return of conductor Jahja Ling, leading the Florida Orchestra in an evening of music featuring Beethoven, in Ferguson Hall, at The Straz Center for the Performing Arts.

All proceeds from this special evening will benefit WUSF Public Media’s efforts to improve Classical WSMR’s signal strength and reach.  This will help us provide classical music on the radio to even more listeners in our region.

There are special VIP tickets available that include a private reception after the performance with Classical WSMR hosts and Guest Conductor, Jahja Ling.

During the evening, Classical WSMR will present a $2,500 check to the winner of the USF School of Music Young Artist Piano Competition, created specifically for this event. The student will perform the winning piece at the VIP Reception after the concert. We are honored to have Maria Cizmic and Grigorios Zamparas as judges for this exciting award. Dr. Maria Cizmic is a highly-regarded musicologist and pianist and is an Associate Professor at USF's College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Grigorios Zamparas is a renowned pianist who has performed extensively in Europe, Asia and the Americas; he is also the Director of Piano Studies at the University of Tampa.
